One way you can share your Christian love with prisoners is by writing to them. There will be 42 prisoners taking part in the weekend ministry. Address your letters to "Dear Brother in Christ" and let your heart tell you what to say in the body of the letter, such as how Jesus and you love them as members of the family of God.
Letters and placemats from children
The prisoners especially appreciate letters from children. Have your child put his or her age below their first name when they sign the letters. Another way of sharing your love is by decorating placemats that will be used at the lunch and dinner meals that are served to the prisoners while the ministry is going on.
COOKIES
The purpose of Kairos is to build strong Christian communities inside prison walls. It begins with a three-day short course in Christianity and continues with small share and prayer groups among the residents of the institution. Cookies are distributed to every resident and staff member during the three-day weekend. These homemade cookies are a tangible and vital expression of Christ's love and witness from the outside Christian community.
Important Specifications:
1. Bake ONLY sturdy Chocolate Chip.
2. DO NOT add fruit, nuts, or coating of ANY KIND to the cookies. Make
only plain cookies.
3. Size: two to two and-a-half (2 - 2 1/2 ) inches in diameter. Thin,
crisp cookies break easily and cannot be used.
4. Allow cookies to COOL COMPLETELY before
bagging. Warm cookies will stick together and cannot be used.
5. Bag cookies in zip-lock freezer bags, a dozen per bag. One-quart bags are the
best size to use. Use the press to close bags. Slide locking bags
cannot be used.
6. Pack bags in sturdy boxes such as a shoe box or copy paper box, so they will
survive the trip to prison.

If you bake cookies in advance they may be kept in your freezer until needed.
Remember: These cookies are used as expressions of God’s love to the men behind the walls of PCI. Bake them with care, pack them with love, and send them with your prayers.
